message me & reserve
a free 20 minute zoom conversation
monday - thursday evenings / 7 & 7:30 pm, eastern time, usa
In these conversations we have time to explore your well-being objectives. Initial meetings offer time & space for listening, finding shared understanding & clarifying any questions regarding the ways in which Ayurveda may be helpful in your life. Unhurried communication allows for Time to slow & awareness to expand, creating a calm opening through which the wisdom of Shamana Ayurveda, the oldest branch of living Ayurvedic Medicine, will flow.
These Zoom Meetings are always free from obligation, yet our conversation is an essential & valuable prelude to an initial Eco Season of Ayurveda Care & Immersion Learning.
what is
the meaning of the word
Shamana
in sanskrit
the language of ayurveda?
In the ancient & still evolving language of Ayurveda, Sanskrit, the word Shamana may be translated as: allaying, calming, or pacifying; a curative anodyne. As the poetic language of Sanskrit can imbue any word with deep, rich meaning, the word Shamana also holds the promise of a return to one’s primal, natural state of equanimity & harmony, through a return to the rhythms & patterns of Nature which we remember, a return to our true inner nature.
Ayurveda Shamana is a traditional, primary, preventive branch of Ayurvedic healing, designed to bring inner harmony between one’s heart, mind, & body, as well as clear perception of one’s true nature in relation to both inner & outer worlds. This resonant harmony, as a foundation of health & happiness, becomes a rich & palpable experience, when journeying through life supported by the wisdom of Ayurveda. To experience the emotions & desires of our hearts fully, while simultaneously existing in peaceful union with our true, inner nature, is a joy.
The deeper meaning of the Sanskrit word Shamana, is also infused with the qualities of lustration & purification, which beautifully describes the effects that gentle, Shamana self care, cleansing & lifestyle practices have upon all aspects of our being. The word Shamana is often used in Sanskrit to describe the sacred washing of a human body before a ceremony, or the ritual purification of the earth surrounding a home site, before a dwelling is built. Shamana implies the calming, cleansing & purifying of each of the Maha Bhutas, or primal elements from which we are created, Ether, Air, Fire, Water, & Earth.

use of sanskrit
For ease of understanding by a diverse audience I have written all Sanskrit words on Shamana.stream in what I feel is their most widely accepted translation version into the English language. Each Sanskrit word is capitalized & without diacritic marks of transliteration used in the IAST, International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration.
